BROKE'S PROMISE CELLAR DOOR
is open weekends and public holidays from
11am until 5pm for wine, olives, and olive oil tasting.
Our Fine Arts Gallery features glassware, ceramics, timber products and art by local artist Rebecca Rath. Sam Re our resident sandstone sculptor has beautiful pieces in the gallery and throughout the garden. Sam has exhibited his work in numerous local and Sydney exhibitions including Artisans in the Botanical Gardens.
Our grapes were successfully harvested in January and February 2010 despite the rain that is always needed but not really wanted at harvest time. We harvested mechanically 12 tonnes of chardonnay and handpicked 4 tonnes of barbera. We had no harvest from the shiraz block this year.
Our winemakers who create our quality wines are Andrew Margan, Michael McManus and David Hooke.
James Halliday rates Broke's Promise with 4 stars which qualifies as "a very good producer of wines with class and character. Will have two (or more) wines rated at 90 points or above (or possibly one at 94 or above)".
The olives are looking superb at present and we are due to harvest the correggiola early April. These will be picked for olive oil. The manzanillo & kalamatas will be harvested for table fruit. We are expecting a great crop this year and all going well look forward to our usual medal awards.
