Broke's Promise is a privately owned boutique vineyard, olive grove, cellar door and farmstay located in the tranquil region of Broke Fordwich, in Australia's world renowned Hunter Valley. Our property is nestled between the foothills of the Yengo National Park and the banks of the Wollombi Brook with panoramic views of the Brokenback Range and Yellow Rock.
We specialise in handcrafting wines from some of the Hunters most renowned varieties including Semillon, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Shiraz, Merlot and Chambourcin, and for something a little different a Northern Italian red, Barbera.
Our grapes are grown close to the river banks on sandy loam and basalt soil and we have 30 acres of vines. Out Chardonnay was the first variety planted in the early 1990's and has produced vintages since then with its' own distinctive regional style.
The Barbera was planted in 1999 and produces a medium bodied aromatic style wine which is a perfect accompaniment to pasta and Mediterranean style food.
More recently planted are Shiraz, Semillon, Chambourcin, Merlot and Verdelho which are popular varieties grown successfully in this unique region.
Our local contract winemakers are Michael and Meredith McManus who have been making wine in the Hunter Valley for many years.
Michael and Meredith share the passion with Graeme and Deborah, who want to offer authentic, unique, handcrafted wines for your pleasure.
The 23 acre, 2000 tree olive grove planted in November 1996 comprises Frantoio varieties of Correggiola and Paragon from central Italy which produce a delicious fruity oil with a slight peppery finish.
Our other varieties of Spanish Manzanillo and Greek Kalamata are grown for table olives and are also used for our delicious tapenades and pastes.
To add to your enjoyment our luxuriously appointed 4 bedroom homestead is available for farm stay holidays, and our cellar door and gallery is open every weekend or other times by appointment.
